Settlement and Update on Contract

Well today is very exciting for us because we settled on our land!! To make this day even more fantastic is that the block of land opposite us exchanged today and is now sold.  The reason why we are so excited by this is because behind that block of land (which is opposite our house) is an existing old white fibro house with about 6 horrible tin sheds.  We have been waiting for the land to sell opposite us so that they cover up the house and sheds!! lol

I also received an email from Haley at Coral Homes letting us know that our contract and plans are due to arrive in the office on 24th April (7 days and counting).  Once we have those plans we can finalise everything with the bank and start the process of approval from Bingara!  This stresses me a little too as this means we have probably a maximum of 3-4 weeks to choose all our colours and materials for the house..oh boy.  We have a pretty good idea for the external facade colours but the inside is proving difficult.  We are pretty sure on the colour of the caesarstone bench top and carpet and that is about it! We better head into the colour room this weekend to look again!

We are happily settled into our rental property also.  It is a 3 bedroom home and we actually feel quite cosy and at home here.  Christian has adapted with no problems at all :)

Hopefully there will be a post next Friday updating that we have the building contract!

Tender

We have our fixed price tender! yay and happy to report that it wasn't much more than the quote at all!  Very Happy!
Of course, being me I have made a few more changes so we have to get another tender.  She is ordering the new tender to come with the contract as well other wise by the time we get a new tender and then send away for the contract we will have wasted lots of time!
Hopefully we will have the new tender in a couple of weeks and then we can get it into Bingara Gorge to sign off and then council....will keep you posted :)

Changes made:
* Have added a door to the other side of the study as we are going to make it a guest bedroom, so thought the door leading to the activity will be better for bathroom access.
* Portico has been extended 1.5metres to now fit the new extension ( extra entrance and garage over)  This makes the portico 4.4 metres :)
* The tender didn't have carpet in the activity room so confirmed that we are getting carpet in there.
*Changed the pantry door to a normal hinged door again

The Plan - sorry it didn't attach on previous post

House Plans

I have attached the current plans of our house!  We have decided to go with Coral Homes and we are building the 'Daydream 32' Design.  It is now 33 squares due to making changes to some room sizes.  We have made lots and lots of variations.  Coral Homes have been fantastic so far and they allow you to make as many changes as you would like.  We are dealing with Haley at the Homeworld South and she has been great!

Selling Our House!

The next step was to put our house on the market and cross fingers that it sold very quickly! We were lucky that Bingara had a special promotion where they give you an extra 120 days to sell your home before you have to settle.
We put our house on the Market with Realty Group and set a date to launch the property on Monday 11th February.  The great news for us was that we sold our house on Saturday 23rd February!  Two weeks on the market is exactly what we needed.  It cooled off yesterday so now we feel that we can really celebrate.  It will be sad to say good bye to our house.  Lots of things have happened in this home and it was our first family home together but it will all be worth it when we are living in our beautiful new home!

Introduction

Well we are very excited as we have decided to take the plunge and build.  We have been talking about this for a very long time and have been looking at display homes for months and in January 2013 we decided that we were just going to do it!

Our first decision had to be the land.  We decided on Bingara Gorge.  A beautiful new estate at Wilton.  We initially put a holding deposit on Lot 18 on Berrima Road although we had complications with possible other entries on our road to the estate and it had a lots of drains and a big hill in the back corner so we decided to transfer our land to another lot.  The lot we have now chosen and have exchanged on is Lot 172 Beatty Street.  See the photo below of our beautiful flat 1/2acre block of land !
