Slab

We have a slab! We haven't had a chance to go out and look at it yet due to sickness in my household but again I can thank my lovely neighbour for taking pics for me!  Thank you so much Bec :)
We are so excited and can't wait to go and check it out, take more pics and get a real feel for the layout.    I will post some more pics of the slab when we get some :)

Formed up and ready to go!

I am just loving this building stage.  It is so exciting seeing all of the things happening on the block.  Yesterday they did all of the forming up and put all of the foam pads in that sit under the slab.  I'm hoping that the slab was done today.  I have my Mum checking for me later this afternoon..thanks Mum :).  I have attached a photo below of the foam pads.  Thanks to my lovely neighbour who took the photos for me!

Excavation Day

Well the day has finally arrived!  Now the excitement has really kicked in.   This morning we met with our lovely SS Andrew.  He was really nice and I think he is going to be great.  Really down to earth and friendly :)  We hung around for a little while watching the land being excavated.  I know that doesn't sound very exciting but it definitely was for us.  I'm just so excited that the build has started.  Our SS told us that everything has been booked in for the next two weeks and that the frames are due to arrive on the 21st to start on the 22nd.  So, if this weird rainy day doesn't hang around we should have a slab in 2 weeks! YAY

Well, tomorrow marks two weeks since we have had council approval and we are still waiting for Coral to give us a start date!  They told us it would be 2 weeks max so hopefully we hear something tomorrow!  I just really need something to look forward to at the moment.  Really lacking motivation and excitement.  Come on Coral, give us the call tomorrow!!!???  ;)

Nearly there....

I have been getting on the council website every day to track our DA application.  It is finally our turn:)  Two weeks ago there were 14 homes in front of us, last Monday 4 and now we are it.  The last house before us was approved today!  Hopefully we will hear some good news in the next couple of days.  They have been averaging two days on each house over the last week.  I just want it to start! Don't think I can wait much longer.  Who would have thought that back in January when we paid our deposit we would still be sitting in council 8 months later.  Watch this space for some good news (better be)

At Council...

After our little DA complication, we finally got an email today to advise us that our application has been lodged with the Council.  Please, please, please council be quick..we have already wasted 4 weeks with a private certifier :(  Cross fingers for us!!

Frustrating News

We got a little bit of frustrating news yesterday!  We decided to go to a private certifier for DA approval, as we have been told by many that they are quicker than councils.  We received an email yesterday, after it has been with a certifier for 2.5 weeks, that we are still going to have to get approval from council.  They explained that some houses can just get approval from the private certififier but for some reason ours can't! Of course! They don't know this until a planner has looked at it.  So cranky, what a waste of 2.5 weeks :(  Who knows how long the council is going to take!  They don't have a very good track record.
Oh well, at least we can save some more money for when we move in.
Keep your fingers crossed for me that the council are quick!

Colour Appointment

Today was exciting and tiring in one!  We thought we were very organised and that the colour appoinment would be easy! ha...we were wrong.  We spent 3 hours with the colour consultant and now we just have to hope that all of our choices are going to look good!
Of course, we have many upgrades..lol.  Will post later tonight all of our choices and upgrades.
Another happy note is that our house was lodged for DA Approval last Friday with a Private Certifier.  Let's hope they do a quick job :)
